Spanish Braid Lace - Hinojosa
by Carolina de la Guardia
A very welcome further new addition to the author's previous three books which feature this numerical braid lace which has been worked in SW Spain since the 1920s but traces its origins much further back, probably in Central Europe.
Here, the author begins with an historical overview and a useful section on techniques. This is followed by 9 beautiful patterns - including backing for trays and other household features, fans and a wedding handbag - which is featured on the cover.
Each project is complete with a photograph of the finished lace, detail where necessary, a pattern and brief notes. As is the custom, the patterns are presented without dots; the lacemaker pins evenly along the braid.
Exceptionally well presented with clear photographs and patterns.
